About WoolMap

WoolMap is an invite-only network where makers publish project logs, patterns and studio notes as pinboard profiles that anyone can read for free.

WoolMap is a small, invite-only network for people who make things by hand and write about it: knitting, crochet, sewing, natural dyeing, ceramics, mending and the crafts in between.

The idea

The most useful craft knowledge rarely lives in polished tutorials. It lives in notes: a swatch that grew, a glaze that ran, the tension trick someone figured out on row 40. WoolMap gives makers a calm place to publish those notes and gives readers a way to find them by person, by board or by topic.

How it fits together

  • Profiles. Each writer has a profile with a cover, portrait, short bio and their posts laid out as pins.
  • Boards. Writers sort posts into their own categories, each with its own page.
  • Topics. Shared tags connect posts across profiles, so you can follow a technique rather than a person.
  • Replies. Anyone can reply with a name; moderators review guest replies before they appear.

What we hold to

  • Reading is free and needs no account.
  • No invented numbers. No likes, no follower counts, no trending scores; only real post, category and reply counts.
  • No tracking. No analytics, no ads, no cookies for readers.
  • Writers own their work and can take it down whenever they like.

Writing here

Writer accounts are by invitation, which keeps the network small enough to moderate with care. If you write about a craft, tell us about it on the contact page. News about the site itself is posted in the Yarn Notes journal.
